Filming Schedule Part 1&3

Filming Schedule for Part 1 & 3

This weekend we have managed to fit in last-minute filming.

On Saturday 28th we will film the wedding scene in the church and graveyard. I have managed to get full access to St. Mary's Church in Hadlow for the whole day. We will start filming at 2pm and hopefully wrap-up by 4pm as the forecast predicts rain at 5pm. We will have the main groom and bride, and I have my sisters, nan and my neighbour as guests/extras. Here is a list of what each of us is bringing on Saturday:

Issy: Confetti/ Fake blood/ Ribbon/ Fake Champagne (Shloer)/ camera/ storyboard

Bella: Knife/ Wedding Dress/ Ring/ Camera Equipment

Pip: Champagne glasses/ Flowers/ Veil/ 6 actors and costumes

On Sunday 29th we will film the final scene where the protagonist is picked up by her chauffeur and catches a glimpse of her estranged husband in the rear-view mirror. We need the chauffeur; who is my neighbour, the protagonist Catherine; Iona Guthrie Benson and the estranged husband, my dad. We also are borrowing my neighbours 1920's car. Here is a list of what each of us is bringing on Sunday:

Pip: Dress/ fur shawl/ bag/ shoes

Storyboard Part 1

Storyboard Part 1 - Wedding Scene

Issy has managed to pull together our exact visions of what we expect in the dreamy-like wedding sequence. This is the storyboard for our recent narrative add-in; where it includes a flashback of an elegant wedding of the female protagonist which concludes with a murder executed by her abusive husband.

Music Research and our final piece of music:

I have created an emaze presentation on the music research I have done and what cinematic music scores have inspired me. There is also a link to the track we have chosen which features in 2/3 in our opening.

Non-diegetic sounds/ music for the wedding section:

With an aim to experiment with mixing together sounds for the church/wedding section, I have downloaded a selection of sounds from Freesound.org, including sounds of wedding church bells, church bells chiming, footsteps, screaming, champagne glasses clinking, birds tweeting, group chatter and laughter. I then compiled the most suitable sounds onto Garage Band to create a mock-up of the non-diegetic sounds we will use. I then transferred the track onto iMovie and added images from Google that were similar to the shots we are going to use/film; so I could show my group my ideas of how all the sounds would tie in with the visuals.

The sequence begins with wedding church bells, also I overlaid sounds of nature/birds tweeting in order to create an atmosphere and the feeling of the outside. I then added sounds of the guests cheering to co-inside with the bride and groom walking out of the church; as well as an ongoing track of people talking to create the ambience of guests surrounding the newly-weds. After I used a sound of glasses clinking together to match the visual of the champagne glasses. I then faded out the wedding bells using the transition of someone making a toast with their glass. This is when the one-bell chime is introduced, with an aim to build up the tension leading up to the murder. Also I overlaid the sound of footsteps going up wooden stairs, which also builds up suspense. Then as the floorboard sound creaks, it indicates the top of the stairs (where the bride sees her husband holding a knife dripping with blood) and then the sound of a women screaming interrupts. Then the bold sound of the bell chimes and brings in the title screen on que.

The only sound I have not included is the dialogue of the guests, bride and groom; which is noticeable at the part leading up to the murder as it feels a bit empty.

Our first idea for the narrative of our film opening- Mood board

  • A horror/crime investigation set in the 1920's
  • Black and white filter with colour on the red ring
  • A women in her early twenties turns up to a party in an elegant car, at Knowle House
  • A man spying through binoculars in the bush
  • Women see's man in reflection of door knocker
  • Women is strangled because of an affair (audience believe it was the man in the bush who murdered her)
  • Her ring is missing
  • Flash back of affair
  • Investigation of party
  • Murderer is found
